About Ashtown Food Research Centre
The Ashtown Food Research Centre with the Moorepark Food Research Centre makes up the Food Research Directorate of Teagasc. Its mission is to support the development of the food industry in Ireland through excellence and leadership in research, technology management and skills development. The centre serves the meat sectoras well as vegetable, fruit and cereal processors. Moorepark Food Research Centre provides research and technology support for the dairy sector.
Specific technical expertise is focused on the areas of beef and other meats, prepared consumer foods and food safety. The research programme is underpinned by targeted studies of markets and consumer-led developments.
The Ashtown centre also supports food companies and start-up businesses with new product development supports which includes product formulation, product testing, sensory analysis and pilot-scale manufactureing facilities.
A dedicated training and consultancy group offers services in the areas of technical information, legislation, food safety and quality management standards.
