Fruit for the Nation
Organised by RELAY
Date: Thursday 28th February 2008
Venue: Ashtown Food Research Centre, Training & Conference Centre
These days, our bodies need more vitamins and minerals than ever before, because we are under more stress, work longer hours and are exposed to more toxic fumes from pollution. A balanced diet with a regular fruit intake can provide the mix of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre needed to get us to a ripe old age. Any fruit will do – dried, frozen, fresh or tinned - and it can be eaten in a number of ways, either on its own as a snack, in smoothies, on pizza or on breakfast cereal.
This workshop will address some of the approaches needed to deliver high quality fruit and fruit products at lower prices using consumer driven and responsive supply chains. It will focus on the role of fruit in promoting good health and identify opportunities for improving production and distribution practices.
The workshop will be of interest to fruit growers, processors, packers, importers, public health professionals, dieticians food safety representatives, caterers, retailers and R&D personnel.
