HACCP in New Product Development (FETAC)

Why Attend?

The optimum time to ensure the safety of a food product is at product development stage. This course aims to provide participants with the skills to apply HACCP and food safety principles during new product development.

Who Should Attend?

Participants should be involved in any aspect of new food product development (NPD) including technical/R&D, production, sales or marketing. Participants should have a good knowledge of food safety. Entry is ideally at level 6(certificate) and above.

Course Content

The training workshop is interactive and includes demonstrations and presentations. The following topics will be covered:

  • Key principles of HACCP
  • Sources of hazards in NPD
  • Developing good work practices through the use of NPD management tools
  • Application of the principles of HACCP to NPD

Course Tutors

The training course will be delivered by trainers from the Ashtown Food Research Centre, Teagasc. All tutors have relevant qualifications and extensive experience.

Assessment/Certification

This FETAC credited course is assessed by means of a short written examination and submission of a project on HACCP New Product development a few weeks after the completion of the course.

Grants

Ashtown Food Research Centre is a FAS registered training organisation and is recognised by Enterprise Ireland and other national organisations. Funding may be available for the course. Please contact us for details.
