Hygienic Factory Design

Why Attend?

Under current food safety legislation, food businesses are required to ensure the layout, design, construction, siting, and size of their food businesses are adequate to ensure their products are produced in a safe manner. This training course aims, through presentations and practical sessions to enable food business operators to gain a comprehensive understanding of these requirements and the importance of proper risk assessment in the design and layout of a food business.

Who Should Attend?

Production, Technical / Quality and Engineering staff who are involved in the design, re-building or refurbishment of food manufacturing premises.

Course Content

The one-day training workshop is interactive and covers the following topics:

  • Site location assessment and risk management
  • Materials of construction
  • Process flow considerations
  • 'High Risk' segregation
  • Equipment and factory layout
  • Lighting and ventilation
  • Design and cleanability of equipment
  • Utilities & Cleaning systems

Course Tutors

The training course will be delivered by personnel from the Ashtown Food Research Centre, Teagasc (formerly The National Food Centre).

Certification

Participants will be awarded certificates of attendance, following the training course.

Ashtown Food Research Centre, Teagasc is a FÁS registered training organisation and is recognised by Enterprise Ireland and other national organisations. Funding may be available for a number of courses, please contact us for details.
