Food Industry Training Programme
The Irish food industry must be able to provide safe quality products at a competitive price. Training is a critical support factor towards keeping up to date with current food legislation, customer standards and food processing technologies. Teagasc is a national leader in the provision of specialist technical training for the food sector.
Training development and delivery is to best international standards as training courses are accredited through the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland and the training service is accredited to the international standard ISO 9000. The Teagasc – Ashtown Food Research Centre approved training programmes and trainers have been placed on the FAS/EI National Register of Trainers. This ensures that courses are designed to best standards and the training provides transferable skill recognition for the participant. The training programme is updated on an ongoing basis after extensive consultation with the industry and with national / regional food industry development agencies. The programme is backed up by a dynamic food research programme and a technology support programme for industry.
The training programme is focused on strategically important areas of food safety, quality, legislation, manufacturing, and new product development. Public training courses are generally held at our Dublin Training & Conference Centre, while customised training may be held in-company or at an alternative convenient location.
Particular emphasis is given to food sector support programmes and regional food development programmes for small to medium sized enterprises (SME) and speciality food businesses. The SME training is delivered from Teagasc centres around the country or customised for delivery in-company when required.
