Laboratory Auditing (FETAC)

Why Attend?

At the end of this two-day course participants will have detailed knowledge of the requirements of ISO/17025 "General Requirements for the competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories". The National Accreditation Board (NAB) requirements are based on this European Standard. Participants will gain detailed knowledge of the principles of auditing and have practice at carrying out an audit against the standard requirements and documented procedures.

Who Should Attend?

Laboratory Managers, Quality Manages or other personnel associated with the implementation of the laboratory quality system or the performance of internal audits.

Course Content

The 2-day training course will address the following topics:-

• Overview of the requirements of ISO/17025 with a perspective on auditing.
• Role of auditor and auditee.
• Preparation for carrying out successful audits.
• The use and preparation of checklists for auditing.
• Performance of an audit (practical exercise)
• Documenting non-conformances and corrective action.
• Follow up on audit findings.

Course Tutors

The training course will be delivered by trainers from the Ashtown Food Research Centre, Teagasc and guest speakers from the National Accreditation Board. All tutors have relevant qualifications and extensive experience.

Assessment and Certification

Assessment is by means of written examinations and completion of coursework. This course is certified through FETAC.

The Ashtown Food Research Centre is a FÁS registered training organisation and is recognised by Enterprise Ireland and other national organisations. Funding may be available for the above course, please contact us for details.
