  1. Education and development
    Teagasc has a positive, active programme of education and development for all staff both in-house in terms of skills training and the encouragement of individual development by financial support for staff who wish to undertake third level, postgraduate and other relevant qualifications.
  2. Career advancement
    All Teagasc staff are encouraged to move up the organisational ladder. There are four grades (positions and pay scales) in the research area and 5 grades in the advisory and training areas.
    Staff are pro-actively supported in pursuing training courses that can improve their skills relevent to their position.
  3. Pension
    Payment monthly to a pension scheme (1.5% of gross pay and 3.5% of net pay) ensures that after maximum service (40 years) you receive one and half times salary as a lump sum and half salary as pension.
    The spouse and children's scheme (1.5% of gross pay) entitles the employee's spouse and children to pension surviving the death of the employee while in service or during pension years.
  4. Work sharing and leave
    Teagasc provides flexible, family-friendly work arrangement schemes for annual, holiday, maternity, paternity, parental and sick leave. There is also special leave for domestic circumstances, which includes family bereavement, illness and injury.
  5. Reduced VHI
    Teagasc is a member of a group scheme which carries a 10% reduction in the normal annual fee.
  6. Savings scheme through payroll
    Direct transfer to a savings account with An Post. Begins in August each year and installments coincide with paycheck. Interest is at a fixed rate.
  7. Car insurance payment
    Teagasc provides the facility to pay car insurance in installments over a 10 month period to AXA (PMPA).
