Teagasc Announces Advisory Campaign on Weather Problems

Issued 11 June, 2002

Teagasc has announced that the full resources of the organisation are available to farmers who are affected by the continuing bad weather.

Tom Kirley, Head of Advisory Services with Teagasc, has urged farmers to contact their local Teagasc office for expert advice on dealing with the current problems.

''With silage making at less than 10% of normal and grass growth and ground conditions severely affected, farmers must take action on dealing with the current difficulties and with the knock-on affects of the unprecedented wet spell'', he said.

Tom Kirley announced that special events will be held on monitor farms throughout the country throughout the country where farmers can come together, share problems and get expert advice from Teagasc. Advisory clinics will also be held in Teagasc offices where farmers can get individual guidance on dealing with their particular problems.
