Spring Cereal Management Key to Good Yields

Teagasc is holding a series of 18 Spring Cereal Farm Walks during April to assist farmers’ in the management of their spring and winter cereal crops.

Speaking at the announcement of these walks Jim O’Mahony, Teagasc Tillage Programme Manager, said that “farmers attending these events would be meeting Teagasc experts to get advice on their spring management programme. He said that topics covered would include disease control in spring and winter cereals, weed control in cereals, beet and potatoes and recommendations on fertiliser and trace elements for all crops”.

“I urge all cereal growers to attend one of these walks as the management of all crops over the next six to eight weeks will have a major bearing on yields” concluded Mr. O’Mahony.
