Teagasc Seminars on Milk Partnerships

Teagasc is holding a series of 6 New Entrant/Parent Milk Partnership Seminars during early May to assist farmers’ who are planning to enter into such partnerships for the current milk quota year.

Speaking at the announcement of these seminars Ben Roche, Teagasc Partnership Specialist said “These seminars provide a unique opportunity for farmers’ and new entrants to acquire an insight into what is involved in setting up and registering such partnerships”.

Mr. Roche said that the topics covered will include: details of the scheme; application and registration procedures; partnership agreement; guide to operating in a farm partnership arrangement and how schemes such as Installation Aid, REPS and grants operate in a partnership arrangement.

The New Entrant/Parent Partnership Scheme is designed to facilitate a qualifying son or daughter to acquire milk quota in his/her own right and produce such quota in partnership with his/her parents. The acquisition of milk quota and it’s production in partnership has the potential to improve the financial viability of the family farm. “The involvement of a son or daughter in a family partnership at a relatively young age is viewed as the first step in the intergenerational transfer of the family farm” concluded Mr. Roche.

Dates and venues of these farm seminars are available on www.teagasc.ie or by contacting 025-42244 or your local Teagasc office.

“Anyone contemplating entering a Milk Partnership Scheme should attend at the most suitable venue”, said Mr. Roche.
