Submission of Single Payment Scheme (SPS) Applications Essential

Teagasc has issued an urgent reminder to all farmers to complete and submit their Single Payment Scheme application before May 16 deadline.  Speaking today (Monday May 9), Pat Boyle, Director Advisory Services in Teagasc said that Teagasc is providing a comprehensive advisory service to assist farmers with their applications.

Mr. Boyle said that Teagasc advisory priority over the next week is to help and assist farmers with their applications.  “Over 500 advisory and administrative support staff are available in over 100 offices across the country”, said Mr. Boyle.

“This is the most important form that most farmers will submit in their career.  Teagasc is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that every farmer in need of assistance is looked after” continued Mr. Boyle.

He urged farmers to contact their local Teagasc adviser immediately if they have difficulty or need help with their applications.

Mr. Boyle said that May 16 is a critical day for Irish farming.  “The submission of a completed Single Payment Form on or before this date will determine the viability of many Irish farms at least up to 2013.  Farmers must act now and seek help if necessary” concluded Mr. Boyle.
