Huge Interest in International Grassland Conference

The Teagasc hosted International Grassland Conference which is being held in the Silver Springs Hotel in Cork from 3 – 6 July has attracted huge international interest. According to David Cliffe, Teagasc Moorepark Research Centre, who is co-ordinating the Conference, over 170 delegates from 19 countries are registered so far.

The conference runs over four days and features 17 oral and 90 poster presentations. David Cliffe said that the last two days of the conference will be of particular interest to dairy farmers. Day three, Tuesday 5 July, will consist of visits to Moorepark Research Centre and to the farm of leading dairy farmer David Lonnergan from Ballyduff, Co. Waterford, On the final day, Wednesday 6 July, two eminent dairy researchers, David Clarke from New Zealand and Pat Dillon from Moorepark, will deliver key note presentations on the latest grassland research.

Other speakers include Colin Holmes, Massey University, New Zealand, Michael Murphy, Cork Dairy farmer, Will Taylor, dairy farmer from Northern Ireland and John Roche, Dexcel, New Zealand.

The organisers are giving farmers the opportunity to attend part of this conference. Farmers will be facilitated on the last two days of the event and must register beforehand. Registration details are available by contacting David Cliffe, Moorepark,
