Teagasc at Tullamore Show
Teagasc are staging a major exhibition at the Tullamore Show this Sunday, August 14th.
Mr. Pat O'Gorman, A/CAO, Teagasc Offaly said that Teagasc will feature details on the main farm enterprises as well as agricultural education, the environment, farm safety and forestry.
Teagasc advisers and specialists will be available to discuss details and options with farmers on the stand.
Mr. O'Gorman said "With changes in the EU Payment Regime to farmers it is more important than ever for farmers to seek advice on all aspects of their enterprises, so that they can examine all their options and make informed decisions on their future".
"Supplementary farm income will also be very important in maintaining viable family farm incomes in the future. The options available for alternative income will also be outlined", continued Mr. O'Gorman.
Maximising profitability through cost efficiency and quality production will be the key for the main farm enterprises - drystock, dairying and tillage. The exhibition will feature details on cost efficiency and quality production. There will also be information on reducing labour on farms, especially dairy farms.
The new REPS III Scheme will be fully outlined on the stand as well as the biodiversity options associated with REPS III, and an update on the Nitrogen Directive.
According to Pat O'Gorman REPS must be considered as a real option for most farmers in the future. "The Teagasc stand at Tullamore is the ideal location to get all details on the new scheme" said Mr. O'Gorman.
"I hope as many farmers as possible will visit the Teagasc stand at Tullamore and discuss their future on and off farm options with Teagasc advisers" concluded Mr. O'Gorman.
