Introduction
A number of studies have shown that dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) reduces mammary tumorigenesis including metastasis, with relatively low concentrations required to exert these effects. This symposium will take a global view of CLA as a healthpromoting bioactive agent in food, and the main questions that will be addressed are:
- 1. Is there sufficient clinical evidence to support the commercialization of CLA based Functional Foods?
- 2. Is the technology sufficiently robust to deliver stable CLA enriched Functional Foods?
- 3. What amount is required for efficacy?
- 4. What are the legislative and labelling issues regarding CLA based Functional Foods?
