Moorepark Food Research Centre

Moorepark Food Research Centre undertakes scientific research and provides technological services to the dairy processing, food ingredients, nutritional food and beverage sectors of Irish industry.

The centre contains over 100 personnel, most of whom have third-level qualifications in science and technology. Research facilities are of the highest standard, having benefited from extensive investment in recent years.

A unique asset of the centre is its pilot plant, an ultramodern 2,500-sq. metre facility operated by the Teagasc subsidiary, Moorepark Technology Ltd.

The research expertise of Moorepark Food Research Centre embraces many aspects of food science and technology. The main programme areas are: bioactive for obesity; food cultures; gut health; milk nutraceuticals; food structure; food protection and animal biotechnology.

Relative to comparable institutes Moorepark Food Research Centre has particular strengths in process development and recently has greatly expanded its programme of research on foods for health.

Moorepark Food Research Centre is a partner with University College Cork in the alimentary pharmabiotic centre, a science foundation Ireland funded centre fundamental research role of gut micro flora in human health.

Moorepark Food Research Centre disseminates its public research outputs through the RELAY programme.
