2009 Course Prospectus
Welcome to the Teagasc Prospectus of Courses for 2009
The next quarter century promises tremendous opportunities for the agri-food sector and rural economy. Young people with the appropriate skills and education will be well positioned to avail of careers which will be rewarding and challenging.
The recent review of our education and training service will ensure that our programmes are student centred, based on a platform of innovation and excellence and respond to the need for a competitive bioeconomy. Our colleges are being upgraded to meet these challenges.
Our courses incorporate management practices and technologies on the home farm, supervised project work and discussion groups. Teagasc are the main provider of further education for school leavers in horticulture, agriculture, forestry and equine studies. In collaboration with Institutes of Technology we are providing an opportunity for students to advance from certificate level courses to honours degree level and beyond.
We are currently developing a new business and technology dairy degree programme with University College Dublin and this course is planned to commence in September 2009.
Our further education courses are accredited by FETAC while our higher level courses are accredited by HETAC which means that our graduates have a qualification which is recognised at home and abroad.
